If you haven’t been to therapy before — or if you haven’t been for a long time — it’s normal to feel a little uncertain about how this works. Here’s what the first few weeks usually look like.
What to expect
1 · A short consultation
A free 20-minute phone call so you can ask questions and we can see if I’m the right fit.
2 · Intake forms
A small amount of paperwork, completed securely in the client portal.
3 · Your first session
50 minutes, in person or by video. We go at your pace.
Session length and cadence
Most sessions are 50 minutes. Early in our work together, I’ll usually suggest weekly appointments. As things stabilize, some clients shift to every other week.
Confidentiality
What you share with me stays between us, with a few specific legal exceptions (risk of harm to yourself or others, abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, and a few court-ordered situations). I’ll walk through these with you at our first session.
Telehealth
I offer secure video sessions for clients across Indiana. Telehealth works well for many people and situations — we can talk about whether it’s a good fit for yours during your consultation.

A short consultation is a good place to start. No paperwork, no pressure.
